:  Only one generation needs to have lived or worked in Bronzeville to be eligible

Writers of selected essays will do an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges.
First-place winners will receive a video based on your family essay and assistance
editing your work for possible publication.

The Bronzeville Victory
Monument was erected to honor
the achievements of the Eighth
Regiment of the Illinois National
Guard, an African-American unit
that served in France during World
War I as part of the 370th U.S.
Infantry.  The monument is
located at 35th and King Drive.
